Built on other people’s great work

Maps, weather, rain radar, tides, drive times and the heights behind skylines come from these services and data. Each is credited here as it asks. A wood’s survey, a landmark photo’s author and heritage records are credited on their own cards, next to what they describe.

The heights behind skylines

A stop’s skyline is worked out from the height of the ground all around it. Where a country’s government has measured its ground from the air, with trees and buildings taken out, those national survey heights are used: Great Britain’s and Japan’s. Everywhere else, worldwide heights fill in, 30 m apart and bare ground too, but rougher. A suggested walk’s climb is read from the same heights, along its paths.
