Shot 1 of 250, the first.

How it works

A time-lapse is ordinary photos taken at a steady interval and played back as video. Each gap between shots becomes one frame of the clip, so the world runs as many times faster as the interval holds frames. Slow things, clouds and the light, come alive. Fast things, people walking, move so far between shots that they jump or vanish.

How much faster

The interval × the frame rate

4s between shots, 1/25s between frames, so the clip runs 100× faster: 16m 40s becomes 10s.
